Heartland’s Give Something Back Network OneCard
The Give Something Back NetworkSM OneCard is designed to make charitable giving easy, automatic and beneficial for all involved — one purchase at a time.
The Give Something Back Network OneCard — a prepaid card that works like cash — is an easy and convenient way for cardholders to make purchases — and for nonprofit organizations to increase donations to your cause. If you’re a merchant, accepting the OneCard at your business is a great way to grow your business.
Every time a OneCard — or its duplicative, adhesive-backed contactless tag that affixes to any mobile device — is used to make a purchase, a percentage of the purchase price is automatically returned to the cardholder, who agrees to donate it to the nonprofit organization sponsoring his/her OneCard. The cardholder also has the opportunity to give back an additional portion of the purchase price to other charities.
For example, the OneCard can be used in K-12 school environments as a fundraising tool. Students and their parents, as well as faculty and staff, receive cards/tags to make purchases at participating community merchants. For each purchase made with the OneCard/tag, 1.5% of the price is automatically donated to the school sponsoring the OneCard program. One-third of that is donated to the school’s general fund. Cardholders can then choose to donate the remaining 1% to the general fund or to the school’s booster clubs.
With this setup, parents are encouraged to treat their student’s cards/tags as allowance tools — so they can start teaching their children money management while monitoring their spending, and make sure they have money when they need it.
