Central Ohio Restaurant Association Presents Awards to Heartland Payment Systems and its CEO
Columbus, OH—The Central Ohio Restaurant Association (CORA) recently presented Heartland Payment Systems®, one of that nation’s largest payments processors, with its Purveyor of the Year Award. Heartland Chairman and CEO Bob Carr accepted the award that is presented annually to a purveyor who is a true partner to its customers, looking for ways to save money and provide outstanding service to restaurateurs. The purveyor must also demonstrate excellence in business practices and support of CORA. Heartland is an endorsed partner with the Ohio Restaurant Association and 33 other state restaurant associations.
In addition, Carr was recognized for his humanitarian efforts with CORA’s Giving Award, presented to an individual or business that provides quick action in a time of need. In May 2008, when a server at a member restaurant was severely injured in a senseless act of violence, Carr volunteered to match funds raised up to a very significant amount with a personal check to aid the server. With this incentive, a huge campaign involving servers, bartenders, restaurateurs and patrons all over Central Ohio resulted in a substantial medical trust fund for the injured worker. Carr is a resident of Princeton, NJ.
According to CORA’s Executive Director, Gail Baker, “Heartland is a partner to our industry and its members. We greatly value the organization and its services.” In regard to Carr, Baker says, “Bob is a business professional of the highest integrity. He is a great model to our industry and proves that he cares. We are so pleased to be able to work with him and are so appreciative of all he has done for our industry.”
Each year, CORA recognizes a number of individuals and companies who have had a positive impact on the restaurant industry. CORA is the largest of the nine local restaurant associations which make up the Ohio Restaurant Association. Its membership is comprised of Restaurant Company members and Purveyor and Associate members who represent all segments of the restaurant industry.
