Heartland adds IT accolade to employment honors
PRINCETON, NJ — June 20, 2011 — Heartland Payment Systems' (NYSE: HPY) has been selected by IDG’s Computerworld as one of the 2011 Best Places to Work in Information Technology (IT). Heartland ranked No. 30 of 100 top organizations that challenge their IT staffs while providing great compensation and benefits, including continuing education programs designed specifically for Heartland employees.
Heartland currently employs more than 400 IT staff based in Plano, TX, Portland, OR and Jeffersonville, IN — which is also the site of the company’s state-of-the-art customer service center — under the direction of Steve Elefant, Heartland’s chief information officer, Kris Herrin, Heartland’s chief technology officer, John South, Heartland’s chief security officer, and Bryan Thompson, Heartland’s chief enterprise architect.
“This recognition is an honor for our IT organization and for Heartland as a whole,” said Bob Carr, Heartland’s chairman and chief executive officer. “We are extremely proud of the dynamic, results-driven culture that leaders and employees at every level of the company contribute to daily, and the formidable accomplishments that result from these collaborative efforts. Our IT staff is the backbone supporting our industry-leading technology initiatives that provide merchants best-in-class business services and keep our enterprise running smoothly, including our groundbreaking E3™ end-to-end encryption payment card security solution, mobile application development and data center modernization and consolidation.”
In addition to a corporate award submission, the nomination process also included a random, confidential survey of Heartland’s IT organization.
“On the heels of being named the No. 1 service company to sell for in the United States by Selling Power magazine for three consecutive years, this award is yet another testament to our organization and our employees,” added Carr.
"To be among the Best Places to Work in IT, it's not enough to seek out and hire the most talented IT professionals, offer them competitive pay and provide great benefits," said Scot Finnie, editor in chief of Computerworld. "Smart IT people realize that they need to get up to speed on their employer's revenue opportunities. The organizations that made this year's Best Places to Work list are creating a work environment that both trains and encourages IT personnel to pursue business-driven priorities."
Since 1994, Computerworld’s annual “Best Places to Work in IT” feature has ranked the top 100 work environments for technology professionals, based on a comprehensive questionnaire regarding company offerings in categories such as benefits, diversity, career development, training and retention.
